Think about the size you need and how far the operator will be from the screen. Recording devices include time-lapse VCRs and Digital Video Recorders. The DVR is a newer technology and records at a higher quality and makes it far easier for you to find specific footage.
CCTV systems can help a great deal to deter criminals and use footage to help identify suspects. However, these security systems do have drawbacks. Normal wear and tear over time means maintenance costs to keep the system working and updating equipment from time to time. Outdoor cameras can become damaged from bad weather and dust.
