The 1/3” Sony Super HAD CCD weatherproof CCTV security camera is an excellent choice for your video surveillance and security needs. Based on Sony’s Hole-Accumulation Diode Charged Coupled Device technology, the company claims their CCD device design outperforms most of the competitors using their CCD implementations. Sony claims that their Super HAD technology is built on a Sony designed and developed imaging semiconductor that dramatically increases overall sensitivity. This unit has minimum luminance levels of 0.4 Lux for color and 0.03 Lux for black and white. Effective daytime viewing distance in color is seventy feet and night time viewing range is 35 feet using infrared (black and white).
The on-camera connections are 12-volt DC power and BNC connector for the camera’s video output signal which is 1.0 volts peak-to-peak at 75 ohms impedance. The physical dimensions for this bullet type camera are 0.8” outside diameter by 3.0” length. This size makes it an ideal camera solution if you plan to use it for surveillance applications where obtrusiveness is a factor. The internal camera electronics are potted in a silicon gel making it shock resistant. The weatherproof durability and operational temperature range (14ºF to 122ºF @ 95% relative humidity) make this camera an ideal pick if you want to mount the unit on your helmet or vehicle.
Video performance for this 1/3” CCD camera yields a clean and clear visual experience. Effective video resolution is 768 X 494 or 38K pixels. The signaling system is based on the U.S. NTSC standard that scans at a 2:1 interlaced ratio at 525 lines by 60 fields at 30 frames per second. Horizontal resolution is 560 TVL for color and 590 TVL for black and white. Since typical CCD based cameras have a signal-to-noise ratio range of 40 to 60 decibels, this camera’s S/N ratio of 48 decibels placing it in the middle of most other cameras performance.
